The Philippine Coastwise Shipping Association has proposed reclassifying RoRo terminals as part of the national highway network instead of revenue-generating port facilities.[1]
Association chairman Lucio Lim Jr. stated terminal fees account for 5% to 10% of freight cost for a 10-wheeler truck. Fees reach 15% on some short routes.[2] The group has also proposed transferring management of non-base RoRo ports from port authorities to the Department of Public Works and Highways.[3]
The association published proposals for eight inter-island expressway corridors across the Visayas and Mindanao regions.[4] It is discussing a separate Northern Cebu maritime industrial park proposal with Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro.[5]
